Copying Podcasts to your Portable Media Player
FeedStation is a podcatcher, which means it can download multimedia files and automatically synch them with your iPod or other media device.
Why would you want to do this? Well, you could schedule your enclosures to be automatically downloaded to your iPod while you sleep. When you awake the next morning, just pick up your iPod and you can listen to your downloaded audio while you ride to work.
FeedStation makes this process as simple as possible:
Synching with iTunes and your iPod
- In FeedStation's options, choose to copy downloaded enclosures to an iTunes playlist
- In iTunes, make sure that your iPod options are configured to automatically update all playlists
- If you'd prefer not to automatically update all playlists, then choose to enable automatic updates for just the "FeedDemon Podcasts" playlist
Synching with a Media Device other than an iPod
- Connect your media device to your computer
- In most cases, Windows will map the device to a local drive letter, so choose to copy downloaded enclosures to that folder
- If your device doesn't map to a drive letter, you may be able to use Windows Media Player 10 to synchronize instead (see below)
Synching with Windows Media Player 10 (WMP)
- Choose to copy downloaded enclosures to a WMP playlist
- If you wish WMP to sync this playlist with your media device, open the "Devices" tab in WMP's options, click on your device, then press "Properties" and enable automatic synching. For detailed help on this, please see this page on Microsoft's site
